It is common sense to understand that some patio projects require more skills that are technical than basic DIY projects. In addition, the tools, skills, and resources required are higher, as compared to some of the simple DIY patios. Experts recommend the hiring of a professional, if the project should take place outdoors and require heavy electrical, landscape, and electrical installations to be done in the patios.
The other advantages of hiring a professional are:
A professional is well endowed with the knowledge related to paperwork, legal constraints, and the technical requirements to do a thorough job. It is very important for the end user to understand that if the patios are not done properly the resale value of the entire property considerably falls down.
Building codes might play an important role in the construction of patios. An average homeowner might not be aware of these codes. Hence, hiring a professional, who has thorough knowledge about the building codes, makes sense for most of the homeowners.
Coming up with a plan for a patio can be a challenging task as well. Since, most of the professional patio builders work daily on different kinds of patios. Their extensive knowledge will play a key role in coming with an efficient plan that will withstand all kinds of weather like heavy rain, sunshine, snow, and other climatic conditions.
A professional will be able to explain how big or small patios will be advantageous for the home. Some customers prefer stones to create their patios, while others prefer pavers. Since, there is a variety of these materials available in the market; a common user might feel handicapped by the variety and struggle to make the appropriate choice. Hence, it is important for the end user to select the right kind of professional as well.
Moreover, if the patios need to be repaired in the future, the professional builder will be able to provide suggestions on what is to be done at that particular time. The professional is well aware of the tricks and techniques of the trade. Additionally, if the end user manages to strike a healthy business relationship, the builder might help the homeowner in getting the repairs done at a much lower rate.
If you want to redecorate your home, but you're not sure where to start from – don't worry, we are here to help. We recommend starting from the easiest one – the front door. Many don't consider the importance of having a lovely and inviting front door, but as we all know, first impressions are always important, and the front of the house is the first thing people will see when they come over. In order to help you create an adorable front door design, here are a few tips for you to try out.
1. Picture frames
We all remember the TV show “Friends”, and how there was a picture frame on Monica’s front door. Why not use this idea for your home as well? You can either take an old picture frame that you already possess but don’t really need anymore, buy a new one, or use your DIY skills and create a perfect custom made one. Make sure that you check with Pantone colour predictions so that you know which colours to use for your frame this.
2. Share your feelings
Hanging a chalkboard on your front door shows that you are a fun and social person. There are no real boundaries to how you can use the board. You can choose to be humorous by writing jokes and quirky messages on it. Or, let’s say you want to have a quiet day at home, or you want to rest because you had a lot to do that day – simply write “Do not disturb” on the board and hang it up. Picture it as having an open-closed sign for your home, like the one usually found in shops and bars.
3. Woodcut designs
It’s amazing how much fun you can have designing woodcuts for your front door. The possibilities are endless which means that you can combine as many shapes and colours as you like. You can talk to your family members and decide what you want to make and hang it on your front door. This way you will have an exciting group activity for everyone to enjoy. Make sure to experiment with various ideas and design until you find the one which speaks to you the most.
4. Modern greenery
You can opt for a fresher look by combining a couple of different unrelated elements together to create a one-of-a-kind door ornament. For example, combining peacock feathers with some fruit like oranges and apples will create a mysterious attraction which will certainly catch everybody’s attention. If you want the look of this ornament to appear more modern, we suggest sticking to monochromatic colours.
While redecorating, apart from considering how to add style, you should always have the safety of your family in mind as well. Therefore, it is paramount that you secure all entrances to your home. Installing a security door is the first and most practical step. In order to invest in the safest option there is, and still add an elegant and sophisticated look to the front of your home, we recommend opting for security doors in Sydney.
Nothing says elegance more than a cleverly illuminated walkway which leads to the front door of your house. If you want to go for a subtle easy-to-create look, you should consider installing small LED lights which will add a unique luminescence the front of your home. If you want to add a bit of intimacy, you can opt for scented candles. Yes, you heard right, buying scented candles and putting them in colourful glass jars will help create a pleasant atmosphere which will make anyone who approaches your doorstep feel warm and welcome.
As we can see, creating your very own customized front door design is not so difficult after all. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and some DIY skills.

Just don’t forget to check whether there are any local regulations regarding the height.
Make a Garden Wall
Another thing you can do in order to make your yard more private is add a garden wall to it. Garden walls can be of much help if you want to mask an attractive wall on the neighboring house or garage. But besides serving the purpose of adding privacy, a garden wall will also allow you to grow your herb garden vertically and thus save space. Does the look of your old bathroom make you feel frustrated? Would you like to modernize it and make it more stylish but wouldn't like to break the bank along the way? There is a solution for your problems, and within a couple of weeks you will be looking at your new and improved bathroom. Going green, making the most of the little space you have, bringing in more life and more light – all this is possible and quite easy to achieve.
Make it green
Do you know that keeping plants in the bathroom will make both them and you healthier? Soft light, a lot of humidity, and not to mention the warmth, all present the perfect conditions for tropical plants. Your beloved plants will thrive there, and the entire room will look more alive than ever before. Add a touch of exotic jungles to your ordinary bathroom by bringing in ferns, ivies, and orchids. If your bathroom does not have a window, boost the light with a fluorescent lamp.
New shower curtains and bathmats
When was the last time you changed your shower curtains? It’s easy to keep them clean and tidy by washing them regularly; however, it might be wise to change them from time to time even if you have no mildew or fungus. Opt for some in brighter colours, with interesting geometric prints, or even something unusual like an inspirational quote. While you’re at it, if you’re thinking about new shower curtain, you can change your bathmats as well. Bathroom rugs can be interesting: try getting one made entirely of moss, which is watered every time you step on it, or one that changes colour when you step on it with wet feet. There are even some made of pebbles or fungus-resistant wood.
The best modern fixtures
You don’t have to renovate the entire bathroom to make it modern; sometimes, using contemporary materials is enough to give your bathroom a completely fresh look. Bathroom fixtures and accessories are important because they give that elegant final touch. New stylish vanities which have elegant sinks and faucets will make your bathroom look like something out of a sci-fi movie. Today, you can have sinks that are raised above the countertop just a bit, or even undermounted, while faucets come in a variety of designs. Tall faucets that are adjacent to the sink are incredibly popular today as well. Use materials such as chrome, brushed nickel, and stainless steel for faucets, and add glass and wood accessories to the shelves.
Throw out the tub
Having a big tub in the bathroom may seem romantic, but it makes the place look a bit old-fashioned. Instead of having a huge tub (which takes ages to clean up), why not opt for a shower instead? They are much easier to clean, not to mention easier to get into and get out of when you’re finished. Call professionals, throw out the old bathtub, make sure you don’t have blocked drains, and have a walk-in shower instead. A new shower curtain with floral print will really make the entire room look stylish and fashionable, and you will have more space at the same time.
With just a little patience and a bit of creativity, you can transform your boring old bathroom into a real little work of art. All you need is willingness to improvise and compromise, and a couple of friends so you don’t have to do all that by yourself. Start the new year with some positive changes which include the renovation of your bathroom.
Last week, I mentioned how you can make a bookmark but this week is all about your planners. Everyone wants to make planners personal and having as much you as possible. I found a way to make your own paperclip accessory that adults and kids can use for fun. I love my little pom pom reminders when I am making plans in my planner. They can be created as fast you can say as 1-2-3. I hope you guys enjoy and love how simple this accessory really is!
My first accessory only needs three items! Pom poms, a glue gun and paperclips (: Collect all of your items and you are set to go.
3. Let the glue and paperclip dry on the pom poms for about 10 mins.
Congrats! You made your own planner accessory. I was amazed at how long these would stick together and made my planner have a personality of its own. I hope you guys enjoyed the project and were able to see how simple it was a well. One thing I did realize how doing this project that I want to use huge paperclips. The regular size paperclips are nice but don't have the big factor I wanted to have with my planner. So, I advise that you guys figure out which size paperclips you like as well.
