I haven't been everywhere, but its on my list. - Susan Sontag
I remember finding a tumblr blog called Of Two Lands by Amberly & Florent. It showed different stills of nature and travelling. I loved the photos and decided to do a post on seeing life as a constant adventure. Their photos made me realize that life is nothing but an adventure. I have always been one of those people that focused on education and my career. I have recently changed my outlook and realized that there are millions of paths to travel. Not just one.
You can go visit all seven continents.
Go take a karate class.
You can attend the olympics.
Raise a child.
Eat at a 5-star restaurant.
Spend a week in bed (if possible).
Go to a concert.
I just recently dropped out of graduate school, did some independent contracting and tried to figure out what my next move was. One thing for sure I remember always being a planner. Now, I am a "At the moment planner" instead of "For the future planner." I feel like everyday is an adventure. Before I was not feeling that way, but felt that everyday was so stragetically planned instead of an adventure. I was more stressed when I had plans and they did not go according to plan than when I actually made plans in a slowly pace and not took too life seriously. I actually live now. Do you think you do?
I am not saying that you should go out and join a gang or do something that is not bringing pure happiness. I am saying that you should change your life to make yourself happy and a better person in each moment.
I think we focus so much on the negativity, the future and differences amongst one another that we forget to live. We forget that our differences are a way of learning and that everyday is an adventure of living itself. There is always going to be someone smarter, funnier, lands the job, or just more adventurous than you. But no one can be youer than you. We have to stop comparing ourselves and enjoy this adventure of a ride called life.
I think that as a human we should be excited to explore all that this planet has to offer since we are able to. On average in 2013, every day more than 8 million people flew. In 2013, the total passenger numbers were 3.1 billion—surpassing the 3 billion mark for the first time ever according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). If you don't like flying, there is always cruises, cars, and trains. Most of us will live to be 71 or older since the average age of life expentancy is 71 according to the United Nations world population.
Seventy-one years is a long time to see the world, laugh, enjoy, cry, get angry and do what you want to. I do not believe its too late to do what you want. If you're 50 and want to write a book and join a bookclub. I say do it. I had an amazing guy that was in his late 40s that graudated college when I did. He gave a speech and I remember having older students in my college classes. I admired them and they made me believe that it is never too late to do what you want.
If you want to be reminded of how amazing this world is check out Of Two Lands tumblr: of-two-lands.tumblr.com like I did and make your own memories. Make your life what you want it to be.
Even if you only stay in the US or decide to volunteer overseas. Do something. Live. We are all gonna die one day, we should just do what we want anyways. What are some things that you want to do but haven't?
